We have a variety of events held annually including a banquet, conclave, spring and fall ordeal, and fall fellowship- ask around and find out from other Arrowmen how fun the events were!

Conclave 2008 A success!

Over 300 Arrowmen in the Pacific Northwest joined together in a gathering unlike any other in the Western Region...Conclave! Section W-1B in conjunction with Sihks Mox Lamonti Lodge hosted the event in Mount Vernon, Washington, at Camp Fire Mountain. With a theme of "Gather around the Fire of Cheerfulness" it was  a grand event.  Nanuk sent a contingent of 17 Arrowmen to the event, and had a blast, and enjoyed the Mariners game too! We had Arrowmen from five of our chapters in attendance, and the Brotherhood Ceremony Team earned Honor Medals.   Nanuk also congratulates Samuel Giacalone upon his election to Section Chief.  Be sure to join Nanuk and W-1B in Seattle next year, when Conclave is hosted by T'Kope Kwiskwis of Chief Seattle.

Spring Ordeal on the Panhandle

The Juneau Ordeal went great Shaun Neshium Chapter Chief of Maritime and Phil Johnston Chapter Chief of Totem planned and put together a Ordeal on the Last days of summer camp at Eagle River Scout Camp. We have 5 new Ordeal members and 11 new Brotherhood members. Thank you to Bryce Ehmann, John Burke, Sam Giacalone, and Andre Giacalone for providing great leadership to the new officers and members in Juneau and performing on the brotherhood team.

Conclave 2007

Nanuk Lodge joined 208 Brothers for "Together as One under the Midnight Sun", this past April 27-29, 2007.  We took over Goldenview Middle School in Anchorage, and joined brothers from 9 states and two countries.  Thank you to all who assisted in this momentous event, and see you next year at Fire Mountain!

Winter Workshop 2007

Another successful event, the Hawaiian themed Workshop Weekend was a blast. Not only were the coolest games done on Friday Night, an awesome raffle was held for the coolest of prizes. In addition, the annual banquet was held, and officers were recognized for their contributions. Much fun was held for all, and from the Kailua Pork, to the Beef Short ribs, Macaroni Salad, and pineapple dessert, it was an awesome dinner. The newest Vigil Class was also announced, and is: James Mitchell, Samuel Giacalone, Will Foster, Mr. Beck and Mr. Foster.  We can't wait for Conclave now!

Fall Fellowship & Lodge Elections

"Pirates Versus Ninja's"
Camp Carlquist
October 27-29, 2006
We elected the Lodge's new Captains and Chiefs (the lodge executive officers).  We grabbed our best Ninja and Pirate costumes and had a great time at this year's Fall Fellowship.

Events included: Ninja obstacle course, pirate vs. ninja jeopardy, dining on pirate and ninja cuisine, and the traditional root beer chugging.

-Colin Gow, Vice Chief of Activities

Fall Ordeal 2006

Another successful Ordeal was held in September 2006, and the Lodge welcomed in its newest members in the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service.

Summer Camp 2006

Camp Gorsuch once again continued the legacy of Servant Leadership, as the OA Morning Crew again was a success.  Furthermore, feeding off the success of last year's OA cracker-barrels, OA Wednesday was fully implemented.  It was a day of service to the camp, staring with the Flag Ceremony, raising and lowering, and an OA Fellowship to conclude the evening.  In addition, some weeks also had unit elections at camp, and had call-out ceremonies conducted at the Saturday Night Campfire.

NOAC- National Order of the Arrow Conference

July 29- August 3 2006 in Lansing Michigan- Michigan State "Spartans"
This phenomenal event had three of our youth attend.  They flew all the way down to Detroit, MI and had a good time despite the extreme heat and humidity.  Due to this, it became known as NO AC versus the traditional NOAC.  Samuel Giacalone, Lodge Chief and Ben Miller flew down and joined up with Sihks Mox Lamonti.  Christopher Beck served as the Youth Lead in the prestigious Arrowmen Press Corps (APC).  We can not wait until 2009 when Indiana University will hold it again in Bloomington, Indiana.  Start saving your money now!

NLS in Anchorage, 2006

June 2-4 saw the first NLS in Alaska since 2002.  NLS is the National Leadership Seminar, a huge training event hosted by the Western Region Order of the Arrow.  We saw trainers come up from across the Nation, including San Diego, Phoenix, Tempe, White Salmon, and New York.  The trainers flew in a couple of days early and were given the opportunity to tour Denali National Park and saw a Grizzly Bear attack a caribou.  Over 27 Arrowmen were in attendance, including 8 members from Toontuk in Fairbanks.  Everyone who attended had a blast and we appreciate the opportunity.  Nanuk Lodge would like to express a BIG thank-you to all those trainers who flew up and facilitated an excellent seminar.

OA Service Day

Nanuk Lodge participated in hard hat weekend May 12-13, 2006 at Camp Gorsuch, and had a blast.  We had at least 15 Arrowmen in attendance, plus the multitude of members working on Camp Staff this year.  They learned more about the Order and had a blast setting up things at camp concerning the Order.

Conclave 2006

April 21-23 saw the transport of 14 Arrowmen to SEA-TAC for Conclave in Tacoma, Washington.  We had a contingent of 8 youth and upon arrival on Friday, toured Seattle, checking out the Space Needle, Pikes Place Market and China Town.  We feasted on dim-sum and some struggled through the use of Chopsticks.  W-1B's theme this year was "Fixity of Purpose" and was at Franklin Pierce High School.  Although at a High School, it was still a fun event, and everyone handled the situation well.  One of our fellow officers also had the opportunity to continue their service to the Lodge and Section, and he was elected to the office of Section W-1B Chief.

Lodge Banquet 2006

On February 4, 2006, over 75 of your fellow Arrowmen and families gathered together at Camp Gorsuch, Honoring Honor Campers. After enjoying a full fledged dinner of Prime Rib, we watched the recognition of 2005's officers, the Leadership in Service Award recipients, and the announcement of the Vigil Class of 2006. To top off the fun and cake, a myriad of cool camping equipment was raffled off, including nalgines, knives, hand warmers, beiners, a headlamp and even a Therm-a-Rest.

Fall Fellowship 2005

In October, Nanuk Lodge held a "Redneck Halloween", the Lodge's annual fall fellowship. This weekend long event was held at Camp Carlquist and was a blast. Not only was it a fun filled gathering, attending Arrowmen also voted in the new lodge and chapter leadership. So if you are interested in being an officer in 2007, be sure to attend the fall fellowship this year in October, and bring your fellow Arrowmen along to support your ambition.

Summer Camp 2005

Summer Camp 2005 was busy for both staff and participants of both Camp Gorsuch and Carlquist.  Order of the Arrow Morning Crew ran again, and a few new programs were tested at Camp Gorsuch to increase the visibility and importance of the Order.  One such program enacted was the Wednesday night cracker-barrel.  It was a success the few weeks we ran it, and Arrowmen gathered at Dan's Palace, ate some crackers, cheese, root beer floats, shared a laugh, and played some matches in volleyball.  Another event started in 2005 was the OA flag Ceremony.  It was performed Thursday morning and run totally by the Arrowmen who were camp participants, bringing the OA increased visibility.

AWAKE Service 2005

June of 2005 also had a major undertaking of the Eklutna Chapter in service to the community.  They constructed and ran an obstacle course for AWAC (Abused Women And Children Shelter).  This fulfilled the requirement for the Leadership in Service Award, presented to those brothers who meet service hours in a leadership capacity.  Consult the national website or your chapter chief for more information on how you can be of assistance.

OA Morning Crew Birth
Carlquist 2004

Two ambitious Arrowmen, both LEC officers began this program while working at Carlquist Cub Scout Camp. They brought with several other Arrowmen "Tea, Coffee & Cocoa" to the Adult Leadership who spent the night with their packs. It was a raging success, and soon carried on at Camp Gorsuch.
